Frequently asked questions

Who makes the items in the shop?

The owner, Amelia, makes all the items displayed in the shop! I use a variety of supplies and put my heart and soul into every patch, pin and sketch!

How will these items ship?

It depends on the item itself! I mainly use USPS to ship all national and international packages! Smaller items are sent via snail mail in envelopes and therefore I cannot add a tracking number, though with bigger packages I always try and send one along with the confirmation email!

Why is international shipping expected to take longer?

This is honestly a bit of a hiccup on the part of the USPS! I have found that even when I send packages within a day or two of getting the order, it still takes a bit of an unreasonable amount of time for the item to get from point A to point B. There is nothing really we here at desert petals can do about it, unfortunately.

How long will it take to ship my order?

As soon as I get them, I send them! Sometimes though depending on the time of day, items unfortunately won't get picked up until the next day!

My patch is messed up and I only recently got it. What do I do?

Contact the seller immediately! This is a worry of mine - I intend to sell items that last and take every precaution to make sure they do (by using mainly cotton fabric and fabric paints and heat setting everything). BUT on the off chance that your patch has degraded quickly, LET ME KNOW! I’d hate to sell a faulty item. Let’s work something out!

It's been a couple weeks and my order still isn't here! What do I do?

PLEASE CONTACT THE SHOP OWNER IMMEDIATELY. We use USPS, often sending patches in envelopes. This means that even though there is a return address, every now and again a shipment could get lost. If your purchase isn't delivered within two weeks of the shipment date, contact the shop owner and we will either a) send another patch, b) give you a refund or c) give you store credit in the case of the item ordered being unique and otherwise unreplicable.

How do I take care of my patches?

Care for your patches like you’d care for a good old tshirt - machine wash like colors and tumble dry. Items can be ironed, too.

My item arrived damaged - what do I do?

CONTACT THE SELLER IMMEDIATELY! If something gets messed up in transit, I would be more than happy to work out a replacement!

Where do you get your fabric?

I try to get my fabric as scraps from resale (think bags of fabric scraps at thrift stores and on eBay) because being able to take something that would otherwise end up in the landfill and creating something beautiful from it is very important to me. Sometimes I do buy fabric directly from a mainstream seller, but I try not to make that a habit.

What paint do you use?

I use a mixture of fabric paint, acrylic paint and fabric screen print ink for my patches. I heat set each patch for 3 minutes to make sure the image is steadfast on the surface.
